Can anybody tell me if it is possible to wipe xp home from my hard drive and install win 2000 in its place
when I've tried to reformat the drive I've been told I have to boot from my cd using the xp disk any guidance on this would be much appreciated

you need an MSDOS boot disk, insert the floppy into your hard drive and turn the computer on, when you will get a menu, select 'Start Computer With CDRom Support', you will drop into DOS, switch to the A drive by typing in A: and then type in FDISK, select option 2 to remove your primary partition and then select option 1 to recreate it. You now have an empty hard drive and using the windows 2000 boot disks will be able to install W2K.
