Winzip uninstall

I am running XP Home and learnt recently that I do not need a separate zipping facility as this is in-built into XP. I decided, therefore, to uninstall Winzip but the uninstaller tells me that I will lose all the Winzip files which I do not wish to do, obviously. If I did proceed with the uninstall, would the XP zip program (where is it incidentally?) then convert the Winzip ones automatically or would I have to take some other action.

I can't see why the files should be lost - if they remain as zip files, then Windows should be able to deal with them.

Having said that, I'd leave Winzip there if you have a registered copy - it's a good tool to have.

Unzip the zipped files and then re-zip them using the XP facility before un-installing Winzip click here

Thank you both.
