When I try to open a Word document in My Documents I get a message which reads "Winword caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at 000c:00000108." There is only a CLOSE window displayed. It doesn't matter what Word file I try to open - I even created a new one , saved it and then tried to open that, again without success. I would appreciate some help, please!

This could be caused by a corrupt NORMAL.DOT file. Do a search for NORMAL.DOT and rename it to say NORMAL.DOZ and then try to start Word. If that works you can delete the NORMAL.DOZ file. You will probably loose any Word tailoring that you have done.

Did that do the trick then?
