Please can I tell you that this isn't my problem. A mate emailed me to see if I could help but I don't know enough about computers to have any idea. I apologise if I'm taking things for granted in passing it on to you good folks and will understand if you are unable to help a non member...his email is below...many thanks once again. Andy

i need some help. i keep getting a "microsoft visual c++ runtime library" error
message. says "abnormal program termination". anybody have any idea what this
is? i see something called "winlogon.exe" that i hadn't seen at start up too,
and my computer is barely working- like it has excessive lag or something. i'm
running windows ME (yea, i know lol) and norton and am clueless. the
description on the winlogon.exe calls it an "rslocal MFC application". it also
dials directly when it starts up too, didn't do that before. any help is
greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.......
