Wingman software wants to load

I used to have a Logitech Wingman joystick. I got rid of it a couple of years ago, but I now get a window popping up constantly saying "Please wait while windows configures Wingman software" followed by a request for the CD and, on cancelling, an error message "Error 1706. No valid source could be found...etc". How do I stop XP trying to load this software?

Go to Start>Search then type in Wingman and run the search, get Search to look in All files and folders including hidden files and folders.

Then from within the Search window, highlight and delete anything found.

Have you checked in control panel add remove programmes? If it's there use the uninstall routine to get rid of it.

In add/remove programmes, there is no "remove" button!

So it's still there then try this:

It's free, and should remove all traces for you

THanks for that. What a good utility - I'm surprised I haven't come across it before!
