I have a P4 laptop. Recently it stoppede working. I powered it on and a screen came up saying it could find the operating system. I haven't done anything abnormal to it. Any ideas.

Do you mean could NOT find the operating system if so then I'd check the IDE ribbon cables in your case and see if ones come adrift. Actually before you do that go into your Bios and see if it finds your hard drive first and post back

You could run the XP repair tool if you have a full XP CD

can you get into Safe Mode when you start the computer keep pressing F8 to get to safe mode

I booted the laptop in safe mode and it started. I then rebooted in normal mode and it seemed to work perfectly. I can only presume that a file got corrupted some where.

Thanks for the help.
