I have just closed down my XP and it showed an update install due. I let it run, but no sign of it in add/remove.

I have:

2936068 on 16/4 IE update

2964358 on 7/5 IE update

2934207 on 16/4 ( end of support warning)

2922229 on 16/4 XP Security update.

Would today's be another end of support warning?

Thanks.

Thanks. Any idea of its KB number?

MS issued a patch at the beginning of the month (around 2-May) for IE on XP. It seems that they have also continued (for now) to release the Malicious Software Removal Tool for XP each month and it is possibly that that you have seen in the last day or so.

My computer with XP shows 6 Updates:

KB2817330: Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites. KB2880507: Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites. KB2880508: Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites. KB2825635: Update for Microsoft Office 2010 32 bits Edition. KB2880505: Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter. KB890830: Malicious Software Removal Tool, May 2014.

All those updates are real or they could be a virus?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks all.

It's 890830 I haven't got.

See what happens on close down tonight.

Yes - I'm a bit confused too! This morning, on close down, I got the message that there were 9 updates available for my XP system! I had thought that MS updates were a thing of the past for XP users!

Should I let them be down-loaded - or ignore them?

  rdave13 19:29 15 May 14

Yimbo, yes I would. They contain patches and a new install of IE 8 amongst others.

Xp system updates are a thing of the past but MS still issues updates for its other software such as office 2007, IE etc.

so just because your running XP it doesn't mean you have no more updates available.

Leave auto updates on unless it's slowing your machine then check msnuslly monthly for any updates relevant to the MS software you have installed.

Nothing appeared on shutdown last night. 890830 not showing in add/remove. Will wait and see.

Updates are on auto.
