Windows XP updates

I have just read about the Microsoft security bulletin MS08-067 update. I then went to the XP update site and MS did a check to ascertain which updates were required by my system and all the results came back as Zero for both urgent and other updates. Can this be true as the last update showing on "add and remove software" in Control Panel was back in December 2008.

I installed SP3 last year 23 Jan 2008.

Have Microsoft stopped supporting XP?

I have the computer set to download and install updates automatically, I do not remember seeing the update shield appear in the system tray for quite some time!

The last Security up date for XP shown in Control Panel is KB941569 dated 21-02-2008

Rather than looking in Control Panel check under 'Review your update history' in Windows Update - as Pamy says there have been almost weekly updates - latest on 14 January

The failure to update problem is not uncommon and there seems to be a variety of possible causes.

You might like to try running Softpedia`s Dial-a-Fix to see if that can help to repair it:

Sorry, Provider 2 I do not understand the programme so will not be using it as I could do more harm than good.

I have looked at the update history as advised my Pamy and the lest update was 10 12 2008.

Lots have failed early in 2008

Where can I find and down load update manually?

Sorry again, but as I down loaded the SP3 in Jan 2008 should I uninstall it and down load the late one from MS and install that?

Xp SP3 was launched in May 2008. If you have a beta then yes I would uninstall it and install the full version click here

Just updated my Laptop Two Desktops to go. looks like you have a problem with windows update

you might want to try checking your services...go to run then type 'services.msc'..check that your windows installer is 'automatic' and more especially 'started'. if not click on it and change it to auto and started. I had an update problem, two updates installed but one did not..had 3 goes then found the service was not started although it was in auto.
