Have you set your BIOS to boot from Floppy.
When booting your PC tap the Del button and you will enter BIOS. Using the UP and DOWN arrows move down to Advanced and hit Enter. Then change your boot up from settings using the same arrows, click F10 to exit. Then try your floppies again. Al the best,

When you say thatyour computer will not boot from CD have you tried going into the Bios and setting the the boot order to CD. I am asking this because if your computer will not boot to CD because it is too old then it might not run XP

If you are trying to install XP but are for some reason unable to boot from the CD, you might find it easiest to install from DOS. Format the drive as FAT32, boot with CD ROM support using a Windows 98 "boot floppy", insert the XP CD and run the Winnt.exe file in the i386 folder.
