windows xp shutting down problem

hi, my problem is that (after a recent crash, and this is before i've had a chance to save all the stuff i rescued to seperate discs)

windows tells me it is shutting down, gives a message telling me to save and logoff, shutdown will occur in 1 minute, the error messages go something like:
"shutdown initiated by NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEM"
and "c:\\windows.1\system32\lsass.exe terminated code -1073741819"

any ideas what's happening here?
it doesn't give me the option not to shut down, just tells me it will happen within a minute.

I have had this. Its a virus. Run spybot and stinger. Thats what I was told and it worked well.
