Windows xp settings, help!

1) In the control panel of xp, it is set in 'classic', how can i set it back to the normal xp style?

2)How do i get rid of the annoying blue box which surrounds the text of my shortcuts on the desktop?

Right click in a clear space,click properties, that will give you the options you want,good luck......

meant to say click start and then right click.

you only have two options START menu, CLASSIC START menu just select which you want, click apply

maybe i dont mean classic, what i mean is, on my other pc (win xp) there is stuff - links etc on the left side of my computer and control panel, with a dark blue back ground, they arn't there on my new pc, and its i like it with the lnks etc

Go to control panel switch from classic view to category view

when you select properties there are two tabs at top of interface that opens select the start menu tab and the two other options mentioned are there
