I read on page 150 Issue 155 about installing Windows Xp Service Pack 3 RC2. However on going to Microsoft.com/Downloads as advised in the magazine I cannot find the link to Windows Service Pack 3 RC2, just a link for Windows Service Pack 3 Overview. This link is listed under the 'New Downloads'. Any advice appreciated.

I cannot see where in the PCA article that it states that it is SP3 RC2. The article implies that it is SP3 final version. This will be out soon and available for download as described in the article. I think PCA have jumped the gun possibly because of editorial deadlines and perhaps because issue 155 is the June issue (last bit tongue in cheek).

So it's not out yet?

Only as a beta, i think.
I could be wrong

Yes its only a beta see Stuartli link.

SP3 Release Candidate 2 supersedes all the beta versions.

note the instruction that all previous beta versions should be removed before using the registry script installation.
"Windows Update will not offer Release Candidate 2 to machines with previous versions of the Windows XP Service Pack 3 beta".

It's Release Candidate 2. It is pretty safe but personally I prefer to wait until the final version.

Thanks for all the advice. I have decided to wait until Service Pack 3 arrives via Automatic Updates.
