I have recently updated from ME to XP and when I attempt to connect to the internet receive the following error message:-

Remote Procedure Call Service, windows will shut down due to:-

NT Authority\System. the computer then restarts itself after 60 seconds have elapsed.

Has anyone experienced this and how was it overcome.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the Msblaster worm

To get rid of blaster/Lovsan

Download stinger click here
Download Microsoft patch click here

Turn off system restore ME & XP
Control panel / System / System restore tab/ check box

Apply the Microsoft patch then run stinger. When clean turn system restore back on

And that should cure the problem

Also

Click on Start, Run and type shutdown -a and click OK. This will give you more time to sort it out.
