windows xp pro installation

hello there

I recently got a new copy of windows xp pro, so i formatted my c drive to get rid of windows ME. However i cannot install the new windows xp pro as it says it cannot be installed in MS-DOS?
Have i doen something wrong here?

Set the BIOS to boot from the CD as the first device, then follow the prompts to partition the drive(s), format them and install.

How are you trying to install it? After formatting your drive just boot up using the XP Disk. Make sure the option to boot from CD is selected in CMOS.

thanks for the fats response but how do i set up my bios so my cd is my first device?

Depending upon your PC, when you switch on rapidly press Del, F1 or F2 to get into the BIOS. Find a section (probably the second one) called advanced or similar and follow the prompts to set the CDROM as first and HDD0 as second.

You may have an initial screen that says "Press x for setup".
