I have been given a HP Compaq NC6000 that had a corrupt installation of Windows. Thanks very much.

I have reinstalled XP Pro with all the drivers on the HP website but after weeks of trying out different solutions I still get in Device Manager an unknown device with Code 28 error (no drivers installed).

The device instance ID is
ACPI\IFX0101\4&32D50C2&0

The laptop didn't come with any backups or restore disc's so I hang my head in shame and plead to anyone how may know what device this could be and where I can get drivers.

You need to download:

HP ProtectTools Embedded Security Module and Infineon TPM Driver "SP25985" and extract it. The driver is in the TPM folder. You should be able to install it by just pointing to the directory.
