how do we know it's your computer

Boot up in safe mode and log in as administrator. You do remember your administrator password, don't you?

Not trying to be funny, but how are we to know the computer as not been ripped out of the back of a car?? I you lost one and someone on hear gave a password how would you feel.

It just seamed strange, to lose a computer password that is used on a regular basis.

I know how I would feel.

Woodchip is right, it would not be correct to explain how to bypass passwords on an open forum such as this. There are ways. but I'm afraid they cannot be given here. I'm sure you can appreciate the reasons for this.

It seems to me that you have three options. Remember it, guess or reformat and start again.

It is always good policy to create a password reset disc as explained in VoG™'s link. However it would do no good to try one created on another computer, it will not work.
