windows xp media centre edition

hi all i am thinking of replacing my pc and the one i have seen has windows xp media centre edition installed, at present i am using windows xp home edition, is there much difference between the 2 editions and if so what is the main differences any advice welcome

Media Center (as Microsoft spells it) is designed for PCs that are entertainment centres. That version of the OS has a PVR function so that if you've got a TV card it can record broadcasts to the hard drive. It's also set up to manage music and photo collections; and the interface can be switched to one that you can see at a distance and on a low-res screen: ie your telly from the sofa. If you're not planning to use the PC in that way, there's no need for Media Center.

I agree with Kate B, the OS is otherwise XP and you will not notice any difference.
