Windows XP Media Centre

This may be a bit of a dumb question but I'm fixing a machine for a friend and may have to do a clean install. The installed software is Windows Media Centre 2002 but the disc that came with the machine is Windows XP Home. I would have thought I would need a different OS disc.AM I correct?

You do need the Windows MCE disk.

I was able (as an experiment) able to use the Product Code of my MCE 2005 edition to load and validate XP Pro.

You might be able to acquire the correct MCE disk on eBay.

Windows XP Media Center 2002 is an edition of Windows XP Professional containing additional capabilities for Home Entertainment.
You definitely would need a Media Centre disc.

Just as I thought. Don't know what Packard Bell are playing at, supplying the wrong disk with the machine! Anyway, many thanks.
