windows xp log in

when I boot up i get the windows log in screen requiring a password, but I just click on without entering a password, how can I set up so windows opens without the log in screen

Start, Run, type

control userpasswords2

and click OK. Untick 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer'.

Logon > AutoLogon

Download anbd install TweakUI.

Run it. The last option on the menu is Logon. Click on that then on AutoLogon.

I seem to be getting into a deeper tangle, It now opens up as administrator & though I have carried out tweakui I am getting log on error as wrong domain etc and still getting login screen

In TweakUI put in Default as the username, as in my screenshot.

Sorry, Vog, Still getting logon error message- system could not log on etc, when I ok that, I get new logon windows with user name now default asking for password, which i have never assigned, i have had to use my desk top as i am completely locked out of my laptop !

Have you tried leaving the password box blank?
