A short while ago my son purchased Windows XP pro to install onto his pc but then decided to buy a new tower instead,
He has given me the pro software unopened and me being a novice could do with some help,
1st is it worth stepping up to pro from the home edition,
2nd if I do can I go straight over the top of home edition(leaving home ed in the back ground) as I do not want to lose anything,
your help would be app thanks,

I think for a normal home user, the advantages of Pro over Home are very small indeed.

I would work in the principle of "if it ain't broke etc." here.

You should be able to sell the copy of Pro if it is, as you say, unopened.

Thanks for the help, I think I will leave things as they are and as you say I can sell the pro,
I have already been asked to sell it by a friend and as the seal is unopened I can give him 1st refusal....
