Windows XP Hibernate function

I have been using Windows XP for 18 months without a problem. I have suddenly found that on boot up from Hibernate, the Password prompt automatically fills up with black dots, presumably representing characters. They have to be erased individually before I can type in my real password. Anyone any ideas of what is going on?

Try Control Panel, Internet Options, Contents Tab, Click on AutoComplete, there are option to clear remembered passwords ETC
