I have a lot of icons on my own desktop (30) but I want to create a new user for my wife but with a limited amount of icons (6).

It seems that whenever I delete a shortcut on her settings & then switchover to my user page it has been deleted there as well. For example I need Photoshop - Excel - shortcuts but my wife doesn't

I thought separate users could design their own desktop.

Are you doing this logged on as her or as the Administrator?

Delete or add from C:\Documents and Settings\[her Username]\Desktop

Right Click Start Menu, Explore All Users.

Open up the folders so you can see 3 folders. Your Log in, your wifes log in and All Users. Move and copy icons around the Start Menu under each folder and the Desktop folder under each to change which icons everyone sees.

Icons under your folder only you see, those under your wifes folder she shes and those under All User everyone gets to see (hence its deleted from yours and hers)
