I have a Packard Bell P3 500mhz. with 320m of RAM.

I have recently installed a new Sony 52 24 52 CD-R/RW.

Windows XP Home & Professional both freeze on the start up screen. But when I disconnect the either my DVD Drive or the CD-RW the application loads fine.

The error only ocurrs when both drives are connected, and I then have to load up in Safe Mode. I have changed the internal cable that came with the CD-RW but this still has not changed anything.

Can anyone help..??

Many Thanks....

one thought.

Do you have the jumpers set corectly on the drives? one as master and one as slave (or both to cable select if you have an 80 conductor cable)

other than that check your bios settings and check the drivers are installed correctly altough OAKcdrom should take care of them.
