is to check in Start/Control panel/Sounds & audio devices.

Click on the 'sounds' tab and check that the sound scheme is set as 'Windows default'

You never told us.

So you can play music etc with no problem?

Also go to start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Devive Manager > Any exclamation marks etc showing?
