Just been asked this question by a non techie friend who lives some considerable distance from me ... System is a "Tiny" unit approx 3 months old running windows XP. The problem is that after powering down the machine when the telephone rings the modem appears to reboot the system. He is not aware of type of modem and only advice from "Tiny/Time/Computer World" was to disconnect modem from phone line when he left machine.... hardly an ideal.

Any one any suggestions

Without the make/model its difficult

But try going into the BIOS as the PC boots (normally tap on Delete) then using the Arrow and Enter keys look through untill you find something like Wake Up on Modem and disable it.

Then Save and Exit.
