when i go to shut down windows everything is normal until i get to the screen that says windows is now shutting down at which point nothing else happens. the first time it did this i left it for 4 hours and nothing happened. so at the moment the only way to turn uff is via the big button on the front. everything else appears to be just fine and dandy. has anyone got any idea what this might be. cheers

I have the same problem and I posted it yesterday but no-one's answering. :(

Try downloading the restart windows patch. it's number 306274 and the file is called Q307274_x86.exe. I tried this patch but it says that my windows version is different to the one im trying to install.

Thanks for the link. i'll work my way through it and see what happens.

Thanks also for the tip. if your having the same trouble as me try the link off VoG. it looks like there should be some good shutdown tips. pw
