Windows Vista - Ethernet

I am trying to make up my mind whether to upgrade to Vista. For that purpose I need a new Ethernet modem, AOL compatible, Vista compatible. I've done a lot of research but what I've not been able to find out is: WHERE ON MY PC DOES THE ETHERNET CABLE FROM THE MODEM PLUG INTO???? I'm probably being thick, but hey, we can't all be Bill Gates - pity $$$!

you should see an ethernet socket. It will be there if your computer was manufactured within the past five years or so.

If there isn't one it means that your machine doesn't have a LAN (network) card installed. It's an easy matter to install one, provided you're up to opening the case, and these cards are very cheap.
