Windows Vista

Most of my friends (sensibly) are sticking to XP, however, when they send me documents I cannot open them. Does anyone know how I can open a .doc document in Vista?

.doc documents are produced by Word in Microsoft Office and are independent of operating system ie they can be opened by Word in either XP or Vista. It's not the fact that you have Vista and they have XP, you either need Word or another programme that will open .doc files.
