windows updates on new computer

Windows keeps reminding of new updates.There seem to be quite a lot and some seem fairly big MB wise.Should I download them all.Any info would be appreciated.You wiil probably gather from this how green I am.

Critical Updates are more importnant than any others.

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-39 is probably the most importnant to get first before you pick up the Blaster worm - this patch stops it getting onto your PC. This link downlaods it click here (1.23 MB) Save it and run it.

Yes, the critical ones at any rate, since your XP was loaded there would have been quite a few updates,most of these are to plug security holes, there's been 4 this week alone.

The XP updates you can pick and choose a bit, I don't download ones that would be totally irrelevant to my needs, network ones for example.

Driver updates some people update all of these and some believe if it's working OK leave them alone, you'll have to make that decision yourself, I tend to be an upgrader.
