Windows updates, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Further to my recent query about updates, 6 went OK. However, I have tried to load "Windows Media Player 9" 3 times and keep getting the error message MSACM.DLL is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL.NtClose. Any ideas? Unfortunately whilst trying to load WMP9 it removes WMP7, fortunately I have GoBack!

Are you downloading the correct version for your OS?

I have since read WMP9 is intended for XP but after installing it by hazard (MS Updates suggested it!) it appears to work ok in my WinME.Getting rid of it seems to be the major problem!!!

Stuartli, yes selected 98, ME version.

wotbus@, mine also was a suggested update from MS!

Will stick to WMP7.

I've been running WMP9 (Win98 version) ever since it was officially released and have had no problems; I've even downloaded some of the additional visualisation plug-ins.

It was downloaded from the Microsoft WMP home webpage link and has proved very stable to date.
