last night i got the message saying that windows updates were ready to download, so i downloaded them as usual.
ever since i've had trouble with the pc.

when i start the pc up and get to the desktop, none of the programs i've downloaded in the past are showing on the screen.
they are still showing in start/programs though.

when it get to the desktop the mouse-pointer shows its busy by turning into the hourglass. the trouble is that it stays that way for at least
5 minutes.
so while its like that i am unable to bring up my browser or anything else.

i did a system restore in the hope that my desktop will return to the way it was prior to these downloads, but it didn't.

the microsoft security client box also comes up on the desktop.
also the icon for microsoft security essentials showed up on my system tray too. i did once have
mse but unintalled it months ago.
i've restarted the pc a few times now and that mse icon no longer shows, however its strange that it even did.
i found the security client in program files and attempted to delete it, but i couldn't as it said it was currently running.
not sure if its a good idea to get rid of it though?

so i'm at my wit's end about this problem. i'm angry because it all started when i downloaded the updates from microsoft.
can anyone please help me???
