Hi guys.

A friend of mine has a desktop PC running XP Home 2002 SP2 and has a re-occuring Windows update icon in the system tray. I have followed the link to install it about 4 times now. It doesn't ask for the pc to be re-booted but on two occations I have re-booted anyway. It says its a MS service pack 1 update even tho this pc is SP2. It says the update install OK but then the icon re-appears in the system tray moments later and you have to run thru the whole thing again.

Any ideas anyone???

Cheers, Garry

Try removing automatic updates.Reboot the computer and try and down Microsoft updates manually. If that works then you can go back to automatic updates.
