Can anybody help i have tried to install the following updates Q329441,810577 and 811630 each time i try i get updates failed to install, all the other updates i download work fine. as these are critical updates i am concerned that these do not install.

I've had this. Open Explorer and navigate to Windows/System32 and rename the folder Catroot2 to OldCatroot2. Then try the updates again.

Thanks Big Elf that has sorted it, I dont suppose you know what Catroot 2 is and why we had to change the name of the dir??

I'm guessing here. You probably had installed the updates already and then done a System Restore to a date earlier than the updates installation. I think that the Catroot2 folder holds the time stamps for the updates and gets confused if you do a Restore.

Many thanks.
I had this problem too, and your solution fixed it.

I can't claim credit for this solution as it appeared in one of the computer magazines and I also think I've seen it in here as well.
