When I start my computer(Windows XP pro)I get a message on my desktop as follows:
Resume SET-Up.
Windows has detected that a previous download was not completed. Do you want to recover and continue set-up?
O yes, resume setup
O No, run setup from the beginning if you`d like to change set up options.

Back next cancel help

I tried `next` and another message hit me.
Set up was unable to the microsoft download site
or your system administrators download serverto
retrieve the instruction file for the Setup program. This could be caused by proxy server settings on your computer that are not valid, a
busy internet, or other problems with your current web browser.
Using your current browser you should confirm that you can connect to the internet by trying to connect to click here

I tried, succeeded, but the problem is still there. As I`m fairly new to home computing I feel that I`ve missed something. Can anybody help, please?

Turn of automatic updates

To do this Right click My Computer>select properties then select the Automatic Updates Tab

Now untick the box that says "keep my computer up to date" Click apply

Now restart your computer

Now go to windows updates click here and download all the updates manually
