Windows Update failing to update

For the last couple of week, everytime I go to shut down my PC I get the icon to say there are windows updates available, so I select "Shut down and install updates" and this all appears to complete fine.

However, everytime I log back in I am getting the same message appear.

I have checked the update history and it appears the same updates (5 Important and 2 Optional)are showing as successfully installed every day

I have ran the MS "Fix-It" but this has done nothing to help. Any ideas how I can clear these one and for all?

Many thanks

Answer

Which Windows version?

I used to use this a lot for updating issues, usually worked but no guarantees. It does a general system check and Windows Updates fixes.

There are a couple of things listed on the page to help with troubleshooting problematic updates too.
