I have accidentaly removed the program "windows update" via add/remove programs. Does anyone how I can re-install it. I do have the original w98 cd.

Don't worry, it's only a shortcut. You can access windows update from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer.

To replace the program..

Click Start, then click Run, and type SFC to open the System File Checker.

Click "Extract one file from installation disk." Type WUPDINFO.DLL and then
click the Start button.

Under the Extract File screen, ensure that the "Restore From" path indicates
the path to the WIN98 folder on the Windows 98 CD-ROM. Ensure that the "Save
file in" path is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Note: This assumes that Windows 98 is installed on C:\WINDOWS folder.

You then have to activate the .DLL so..

Click Start, then click Run. Type REGSVR32 WUPDINFO.DLL and then click OK

Resart your machine.
