windows suddenly not genuine

I upgraded to Windows 7 about 3 months ago - no problems, very happy with OS. Suddenly, this morning on startup, a message appeared saying "windows not genuine."
Can it have been genuine for 3 months and then expire? Is it an error? Will security downloads now no longer function?

Sorry - have just seen buteman's post from yesterday on same topic. Like buteman, I'll wait and see if it recurrs.
