hi all
can anybody tell me why when i start my computer in windows xp with service pack 2 i have to load and then switch off completely as everything locks up and i cannot do anything until i have rebooted a second time has anybody got any ideas why it is doing this thanks martan

You could try a System restore to a date before you started having problems.

corrupt windows files / drivers

outdated drivers

failing hardrive

failing psu

failing motherboard

Or failed to load SP2 as it should. So a System restore would be in order

Try running Disc Check on the Operating System Partition. boot file could be corrupt. the list goes on

have done a system restore and also defragmented my disc drive if this does not work then i will come back for more help if you dont mind many thanks all martan
