I have noticed in my program files these two programs have appeared in my add/remove program list. Can anybody tell me what they are/do and if not required can I remove them safley?

Windows ServeAD & Windows ControlAd

Thanks

I think you have a virus/trojan/hijacker.

You can safely remove them both.

You should have the following programs to protect and detect such things:

SpywareBlaster

Spybot Search and Destroy

Ad-Aware

A Squared

AVG

All free, and should be updated and run regularly. I will get the links.

I have ADWARE SE installed and run it around 3/4 times a day - i Have just run it and it removed the ControlAD program but left the ServeAD - I have removed this manually - As I did so, it prompted me to tell me it would effect other programs working properly - ignored this and went on with the removal - it then opened up a browser window recomending a mailware/spyware removal tool - closed this window and the program has gone from my add/remove programs file (for now!) - As bigger fan I am of ADWARE SE, it is not infalable(?) - but thanks for the advice - Regards Steve
