Windows selected without clicking in Windows 7 II

I have been using Windows 7 for a few months now and have recently noticed that when I move the mouse over a window - that window is selected without me clicking the mouse, and when I move the mouse away from the window it is still selected.
I opened an explorer window and clicked on Organize and under General tab the Double-click to open an item(single-click to select) is selected.
I don't mind it being like this but whenever I click on the Show Hidden Icons in the navigation area as soon as I move the mouse to select an icon the window disappears, I have to keep clicking about a half a dozen times before I can catch the window where the hidden icons are.
Is there something in the registry I can change to get my computer back to normal.
Thanks in advance
