I have installed an update about 5 times now over 2 days via auto update. Its called XP security update KB979683. The pc has been rebooted overnight but today its still asking for it to be downloaded and installed. How can I remove the message for the update? I don't even care about the update anymore :-)

Do you get an error message after trying to install update?
You also can right click the update and then hide, this will stop you being nagged about that particular update.

No I don't. I get installation complete, close the tab, then it starts all over again. Very annoying! Right clicking just brings it up again. I'll see if it does it next time I log on.

Lazarus, I tried the sugestions in your link but it didn't work. Instead I chose the custom install option, deselected the update name, and chose to not be reminded of the it again. Seems to have worked. Thanks.
