I have a Sony Vaio and use Windows XP home edition which I had to reinstall from the Sony systems recovery CD-ROM which states that “all data in Drive C is deleted” and “Confirm procedure: You have chosen to erase all date on Drive C … The data on other drives is not changed …”

However, files on the D drive were deleted.

I have lost the sound on my computer and am concerned that I may have to reinstall windows. Will this aggravate the problem with the lost files on the D drive, which I am hoping to recover?

2) In the event that I have re-install – can I save all my programme files and drivers &c and then reinstall them en masse instead of individually?

It might have been better to keep all of these in one thread
