I am running Windows XP SP2 with System Mechanic Version 6. This applicationn highlights a security threat e.g. Windows Remote Registry Access is enabled and attempts to switch it off without success.

I have manually switched off remote access via control panel / perf & maint / system / remote. However System Mechanic still reports that Remote Access to Windows Registry is still enabled.

A friend has advised that this is a genuine threat but could not advise on how to switch off the access.

Is this something that i should be concerend about and if so how do you switch access off?

Go to Run>type

msconfig

OK

and open the Services tab.

Stop any Remote Processes as required.
