Just lately i have noticed that quite alot of threads have HD problems and people need to use windows recovery console from the win xp cd and are not able to access the cd for one or another reason ie dirty cd or scratched cd which could be a problem.
So I ask my self to stop this occuring and if you need to access the console why not install it to hard drive. click here
how to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console to your hard disk. If you install this tool to your local hard disk, Windows Recovery Console is added as a choice on the Windows Startup menu.
worth a try
