Windows password required?

Dear All,
Windows XP Home Edition SP2

In the past my PC used to startup without requiring a password - I would switch it on and with no further action some minutes later it would be ready to go. I think it was following an upgrade of MacAfee or XP that the system now requires a password to be inputted. This defaults to "default" and only requires a press of the return button but I would prefer not to have to do this. Is there any way of removing this requirement?
Thanks for any help.

Try looking in Control Panel>User Accounts and "Change the way people log on" If you have more than one user on the computer I don`t think it is possible to avoid selecting a user but the fact that yours defaults to default suggests you are the only user on the computer. You will find a box called Welcome Screen if I remember rightly - tick ot untick it.
