can you please help, family laptop running windows xp home and connected to the internet via wifi we each have our own user settings and passwords somehow all but one passwords have been altered without us changing them have i been attacked? and is there a way of getting them reverted back so i can get back on the laptop? the only user who can get on does not have administrator rights.

Or try System Restore.

Boot to safe mode (F8 after Post screesn) log on using the Administrator log on (if asked for password press enter)

Then go to user setting and change /delete passwords for each user.

thankyou for your advise worked a treat however for future reference also found that numlock was made and didn't notice making the password numbers and not letters but thankyou will be more careful next time
