Is there any way I can disconnect of at least reduce the volume of the start up sound. A comfortable listening volume in normal use is deafening on start up.

Control Panel>Sounds> Mute

Start, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds tab. Click on Start Windows. In the drop down list underneath select (none). Click Apply, Click OK.

Click on start, then settings, then control panel, then Sounds & Audio Devices. When the window opens click on the sounds tab, in the Program events window, scroll down to start windows, click on it then change the sound to (None) in the sounds window below the events window.
