How can you disable Windows Messenger from automatically signing in when using Outlook 2003?

1. Click on the Start button and select Run.

2. Type:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

in the text box and click OK. You will see a progress bar appear shortly as it deletes its files and it will then ask you to reboot. After the reboot the program will be gone.

Only do that if you want to get rid of Windows Messenger, not just stop it starting when Outlook starts!

Go to Computer Management, Administrative Tools, Services, and double click the Messenger sevice. Click Stop. From the drop down list, select Disable and click OK.

It will not now be available, unless you choose to reset it to manual or automatic.
