every time i try to play a video file with wmp it plays them upside down and back to front but if i use winamp to play them they play fine.

does anybody know why this happens

it's a bit funny this problem...which version of media player? does this happen with all videos? try reinstalling media player and see what happens.

i don't think you can reinstall version 8 ? since its part of xp.. try running system file checker or maybe download version 9.

leave your windows xp cd in the cd drive and type the following in the run box

sfc /scannow

I believe that the cure for this is to download a new codec from the divx web site.

I seem to remember a colleague of mine having the same problem and that was how he fixed it.

You'll probably find that the file was saved using divx.

Perhaps somebody else could elaborate on this a bit more as my memory is a bit sketchy.
