Windows Media Player Problem

Hi All.
I was having problems playing media player files in Windows Media Player 9. It it was an Mpeg, the audio would play OK, but no video. but this is not the same for all files. So I downloaded version 10 in hope that this would resolve the problem but it has not done so.

I can get the files to play in other players ok. But I prefer to use WMP

I am running XP Pro

If I have it right, only some of your files do not display visually in WMP but in other players.

This being the case, they were created in a format not supported by WMP. Try checking the properties of the errant files and comparing those with what WMP can read.

It should be possible in most cases top download additional CODECS but not all are free.

Well, the same file plays fine in WMP on another PC. So I don't know what the problem is

Start->Run and type in "sfc /scannow" (without the quotations, but NOTE the space after "sfc")

You will need your WinXP installation disk.
